Executive Board

The Student Union’s Administrative and Executive Power is Exercised by the Board. The board’s task is to lead the operations of the student union, ensure its administration, and oversee that the applicable regulations are followed. The board’s term of office is one calendar year.

The board consists of a chairperson and at least four (4) and no more than eight (8) members. A board member must be a member of the student union at the time of election. A student union official cannot be a member of the board. Efforts are made to select board members in a way that ensures each field of study at Savonia University of Applied Sciences is represented in the board.

The representative council’s constitutive meeting elects the student union’s chairperson, vice chairperson, and other board members. The board’s constitutive meeting takes place before the beginning of its term. In the constitutive meeting, the board agrees on its internal division of tasks.

The board appoints the executive director and other staff members of the student union. The board chairperson acts as the executive director’s superior. The executive director is the superior for other student union employees.

If the board resigns or is otherwise relieved of its duties, it is responsible for carrying out necessary tasks until a new board has been constituted.

The board’s duties include executing the decisions made by the representative council, following established operational guidelines, advancing the advocacy of students and their position at the university of applied sciences, and appointing student representatives to non-mandatory committees, teams, working groups, and various trust positions within the university and other stakeholder organizations. The chairperson of the representative council has the right to attend and speak at board meetings. The executive director serves as the secretary for the board meetings.
