Credits for Tutoring

Savonia University of Applied Sciences awards students credits for active student activities. According to the study regulations, students can include credits from student tutoring and student organization activities in their studies.

After the selection of tutors, the tutor registers for the tutoring course in Pepi. At the same time, the tutor gains access to the Tutor Moodle, where they can find the schedules and materials for the tutor training sessions. In addition, tutors can submit substitute assignments in Moodle if they have missed any training. New tutors must successfully complete the training in order to be eligible to serve as a tutor in the following academic year.

The courses are as follows:

  • Student Tutoring and Community Impact 1 (3 credits) for first-time tutors
  • Student Tutoring and Community Impact 2 (2 credits) for returning tutors
  • Student Tutoring and Community Impact 3 (3 credits) for tutor coordinators

During the tutoring period, the tutor fills out a tutor report in Moodle, where tasks related to tutoring activities are recorded, and personal reflections on tutoring are made. At the end of the academic year, upon completion of the course, the tutor receives two to three credits (2-3 credits).
