The Student Union of Savonia University of Applied Sciences is Looking for Staff for its Cafés.

The Student Union of Savonia University of Applied Sciences is a public legal entity as defined by the Higher Education Act. Its role is to provide services to nearly 5,500 members and represent the interests of over 7,000 higher education students at Savonia University of Applied Sciences and its campus cities in Iisalmi, Kuopio, and Varkaus.

Our student union operates two cafes. Both are located at the Microkatu campus of Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Bar & cafeSAVOTTA serves customers in the heart of the campus, while cafeSAVOTTA is located on the 3rd floor of the E-building.

In the cafes, we serve students not only with coffee and snacks but also with student services. So, you can expect a very diverse experience at these university campus meeting spots.

Come Work or Intern with us!

We are looking for staff for our cafes at the Microkatu campus. Shifts may be available in the morning before classes, during the day, or in the afternoon after studies. If your studies are at a stage where you can work several days a week, that would be possible too. Even just a few hours a month, depending on your study schedule and our need for staff, would be fine. We offer a wage of about €12 per hour, depending on your experience. Internship opportunities are also available!

Whether you’re already an experienced hospitality professional or looking for an internship, we want to hear from you. What matters most to us is your enthusiastic attitude toward work and customer service.

Your duties will include selling cafe products, customer service, maintaining the general cleanliness of the cafe, and stocking and displaying items in the display case. Shifts can be scheduled to fit around your classes. Additionally, evening and weekend shifts may be available during special campus events.

What Kind of Person are We Looking For?

We hope you are a smiling, energetic, flexible, and friendly customer service person and colleague. You may already have previous experience working in a cafe, or you may want to gain experience in the field. The most important thing is that you can keep your smile even in the midst of a busy rush. Do you have a hygiene pass and possibly also an alcohol serving license?

The job will start as soon as possible according to agreement, and part-time work is available. The working hours are mainly weekdays between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. We follow the collective agreement for student unions in our salary practices.
