Extend the validity of your student cards
This guide will help you when the validity of your student card’s academic year sticker and/or your Slice mobile student card is about to expire or has already expired 😊
Please remember that the validity of last academic year’s student cards ends on 30 September 2025.
This applies to both the plastic student card and the Slice mobile student card. Act soon to make sure you can continue enjoying the great membership benefits offered by the Student Union SAVOTTA in the coming academic year! Collect a new sticker for your physical card by the end of September, or request the activation of your mobile student card.
Under the headings below, you’ll find instructions for extending the validity of your student card in different situations.
- Data transfer permission: Give permission to transfer your information from Savonia’s system to the student union’s register (see instructions here).
- Membership fee: Pay at the service points or in the online shop.
- Plastic student card:
- Always remember to first give the data transfer permission. Without it, you cannot join the student union or receive student cards! More information here.
- If you don’t have a card → take part in the card photo sessions held on campus at the beginning of the academic year or submit a photo (form/online shop). For new students, card photos are organized at the beginning of autumn. We can also take your photo at the student union office – feel free to stop by.
- If you already have a card → you will receive a sticker when paying your membership fee at the service points, or you can collect the sticker after paying your membership fee in the online shop. At the same time, we will activate your Slice mobile student card and you’ll receive your login credentials by email within a couple of hours.

- Slice card:
- Submit an activation request if you paid your membership fee in the online shop. You will receive your login credentials by email once your membership fee has been processed and your photo is available in the student union’s system. The credentials will arrive within about one day. Please be patient

Plastic card: At the service desk, you will receive the sticker immediately. If you pay in the online shop, you can collect the sticker during the service desks’ opening hours.

Slice card: If you have previously used the Slice mobile student card, pay the membership fee and submit an activation request for the new academic year (unless the payment was made at the service points). If you have not used Slice before and we don’t yet have your photo, you can submit it here. We can also take your photo at the student union office – feel free to stop by.
If you have already paid a membership fee that covers your whole study period, you don’t need to pay anything again. Simply renew the validity of your student card each academic year:
- You can check your membership fee, and your membership status, and whether the student union has your photo by logging in to the student union’s online shop or by stopping by the campus service points.
- Plastic card: Collect a validity sticker from SAVOTTA’s service points.
- Slice card: If you have previously used the Slice mobile student card, pay the membership fee and submit an activation request for the new academic year (unless the payment was made at the service points). You may not have registered as an enrolled student, you may not be a member of the Student Union, or your mobile student card may not have been activated in the Student Union’s membership register. To activate the mobile student card in the membership register, you must have paid the membership fee. If you are an enrolled student and have paid the membership fee, please send a mobile student card activation request to the Student Union. You will receive a message about the activation in your school email. Activation also takes place when you collect the validity sticker for your physical student card. Please note that the mobile student card stops working when you are marked as graduated in Savonia.

Pivo is no longer in use – it has been replaced by the Slice mobile student card.

Check your membership
Log in to the student union’s online shop or visit a campus service points to see your membership fee status, membership validity, and whether we already have your photo. -
Make sure we have your photo
Slice requires a photo in the student union register.-
If you don’t yet have a plastic student card and your photo is not in the system, you can upload one here.

Or simply stop by the student union office and we’ll take a photo of you.

Pay your membership fee
You can do this at the online shop or at campus service points. -
Activate your Slice card
Once your fee has been paid and your photo is in the system, submit an activation request for the new academic year. You’ll then receive your username and installation instructions from Slice directly to your school email (usually within one day).
